Congratulations to our members Dr Wei Deng and Dr Anthony Glover on receiving 2020 Cancer Institute NSW grants.
Dr Wei Deng was awarded the 2020 Career Development Fellowship. She will receive $517,454 funding for her grant title New therapeutic option for lymph node metastasis in rectal cancer: radiation-triggered photodynamic therapy in deep tissue.
Dr Anthony Glover was awarded the 2020 Early Career Fellowship. He will receive $540,000 funding for his grant title The Endocrine Cancer Research Program.

Dr Wei Deng received her PhD in Chemistry with the background in the area of nanotechnology at Macquarie University in 2011 and received an ARC DECRA Fellowship in 2012. Dr Deng has worked at Macquarie University from April 2013 to June, 2018 as a Research Fellow. Currently, she is conducting her research at UNSW as a senior Research Fellow.
Anthony Glover is an Endocrine Cancer Researcher, Endocrine Surgeon and Surgical Educator. He is a VMO Surgeon with the University of Sydney Endocrine Surgery Unit at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) which specialises in the treatment of thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal diseases. Anthony is the scientific and education convenor for Australian and New Zealand Endocrine Surgeons (ANZES), which is a society of specialist surgeons that aims to achieve the highest standards in the practice of endocrine surgery. Anthony completed general surgical training at St Vincent’s Hospital (Sydney), followed by clinical fellowships in surgical oncology with the Royal Marsden Hospital (London) and in endocrine surgery with the University of Sydney Endocrine Surgical Unit.
