Congratulations to Sydney Vital member Prof Bruce Robinson who received an AC in this year’s Australia Day Honours.
Prof Bruce Robinson was one of five people to be appointed Companion of the Order of Australia, the highest honour. This is in contrast to 2019, when 19 people picked up an AC.
An AC is a companion of the Order of Australia, for eminent achievement and merit of the highest degree in service to Australia or to humanity at large.
The leading RNSH endocrinologist received his award for eminent service to medical research, and to national healthcare, through policy development and reform, and to tertiary education.
The Australian Honours system is the nation’s way of acknowledging and celebrating extraordinary individuals, those who have served their communities and achieved amazing things. The Order of Australia reflects the diversity of Australian citizens.
The awards recognise the diverse achievements and contributions of Australians from many walks of life. The Australia Day 2020 Honours List recognises individuals serving in a wide range of sectors, for example, the arts, conservation and the environment, community service and multicultural affairs.
